Welcome to Pearl Howell Fitness!

Why did you choose personal training?


My professional history is a checkerboard of experiences, ranging from call centers and retail, to historical survey, to graduate school, but everything points to three facts:

  1. I love problem solving.

  2. I love talking to people.

  3. I love moving my body.

And outside of my work history, there has always been a consistent love for movement. I've been a runner for over ten years, learned about and practiced pilates from a book when I was 16, learned about lifting weights in my 20's, and completed my certification for personal training in the winter of 2022 and 2023. I honestly believe that as a human animal, we need to move, and I want to help you figure that out.

What should I expect from your personal training?

When you first book with me, you will book a Virtual Consultation and Assessment before we decide to train together. What will happen? We will just have a nice chat and I'll walk you through some basic movements to check on your form and any physical limitations or "sticky" spots. Here's an overview of what you should be prepared for:

  1. Your medical history, current lifestyle (diet, exercise, sources of stress), and any injuries or weaknesses.

  2. Your goals and desires as they pertain to fitness and lifestyle.

  3. What equipment or activities you have and want to include in your program.

  4. Measurements and progress photos. This can be as minute or as general as you like. Weight, waist, hip, chest measurements, and a progress photo are standard, but we can do more or less depending on your goals or comfort level.

  5. Depending on your goals, I may also ask you to show me your squat, pushup, or just how your body moves through certain patterns. If you want to work on running or a particular movement in the gym, I will have you send me a video from your phone.

And that's it! From there we'll decide together how many sessions you want, and you can choose from individual sessions, or a plan or package. Some of these are listed on the Plans & Pricing page, but I can also work with you to create a program and pricing package that works for your needs, budget, and goals.


Then it's time for the workout! This is the best part, because it is the part where I guide you through a personalized regime to work on your own goals.


Everything is guided by your needs and goals. Got an injury? We can work around it while you rehab. Medical issue? We can make a plan based on your doctor's recommendations and limitations. Aesthetic goal, like growing your glutes or building your biceps? Cool, let's get those guys growing and showing. Health or fitness goal, like better cardiovascular health, increased endurance, or overall strength and agility? Yes, I would love to build a plan with you. Just wanting to learn how to workout, or feel uncomfortable exercising? I can build a program that teaches you the fundamentals so you feel more comfortable in the gym, going to a class, or gets you in shape for running or other active pursuits.
